There’s no way I’d vote for McCain... Rudi, Romney, or Thompson, yes.

McCain actually has a conservative record. His ACU rating is 82.3, btw. Rudi is a big-time liberal as regard social issues. And Romney has flipped his positions. And if it's McCain vs. Hillary, will you stay at home to help Hillary?

I’ll take that as a direct insult from yet another anonymous tough guy behind the keyboard that feels the need to throw around pathetic insults. I am that which you call the idiot. But if lame insults are all you have...

It’s plain ole fact/reality. Any viable candidate will need somewhere around $100 million.....and the one that wins in ‘08 will spend the most ever. In 2004, over $1 Billion was spent by the 2 major parties and another $200 million by other groups and parties......yet money doesn’t matter? Money’s a moot point? Those that say so are those backing candidates that don’t HAVE the money. Just for the primaries, even with the information-internet age, primariy candidates spent well over $600 million...and it will be more this time.

They’ll need it this time too. Even with internet fundraising (there’s that whole money thing that you think doesn’t matter...why raise funds if it doesn’t matter?), candidates will need $100 million to get that message you talk about to those watching American Idol and Survivor.

That takes political advertising and THAT takes fat cash and that fat cash will generally come from the same sources. If Fred doesn’t get in soon, those fat cash sources pick other candidates to back......and the pool dries up.
People don’t watch debates, they watch CSI. People don’t pay attention to politics, they pay attention to Paris Hilton and Brittney.

Get real....or be limited to calling people “idiot” while drooling in the corner about how money doesn’t matter in a Presidential election.

Those people don't vote in the primaries.

I wonder what the numbers would look like if Mr. Thompson actually entered the race.

If product comes first then why do politicians spend so much time whoring themselves out for cash? If message is so important then why do so many of them put so much effort into not actually having a message? The career politicians know what it takes to be a successful campaigner, and their actions clearly show it’s money first, message 8th or 9th (somewhere below putting together a nice photo-op family).

The world would be a much better place if politics were all about the message and the messenger. But it’s not, politics are all about selling an image and to sell an image you need money. It’s money that buys ad time, it’s money that hires you a campaign staff, it’s money that buys the polls that tells you what “message” you should project, it’s money that gets it all done. Even if you have a genuine politician, one that actually believes the stuff he says, he still needs money to get that message out there.

The most genuine, honest, intelligent, farsighted man in the universe can’t get elected dog catcher if he doesn’t have the money to get the campaign staff together to get the petitions signed and get his name on the ballot, and make the posters, and get his website going. Money has been first for a long long time, and it will continue to be first for the foreseeable future.

McCain made his #1 goal in politics restricting the First Ammendment. He’s not a conservative, he’s a scum sucker.

I’m more of the opinion that McCain will eventually see the writing on the wall and angle for the veep slot on a Fred Thompson ticket.

McCain is more conservative than Rudi, Romney and the Democrats.

1. Because the product sucks

2. Because they're in lower-profile races without the massive free media of a presidential race

“...“Spectator Overtakes Racehorse.” :D”

Fred’s playing it real smart; he’s waiting until the Fall to enter the race. For those who say that’s foolish, think about this: He’s got plenty of publicity now, without spending a dime; he doesn't’t have to worry about the mind-numbing over-exposure in the media, nor put up with any of the MSM mudslinging; when he enters the race, he will have his support balloon and will ride that bubble into the primaries and hopefully all the way to the General election, And save a S#*^load of money in the process!

That bump in the road is Guiliani. And soon the sweepers will be by to wash him down the gutter.

The addition of former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson (R) to the list of candidates shakes up the race for the GOP Presidential nomination. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) remains on top, but his support dips below the 30% mark for the first time in seven weeks.

This is what I was referring to in my last post to you.

What kind of imaginary candidate are you talking about who runs a campaign with no money at all? With the candidate and the message, more than enough money will come in EASILY.

Even a loony toon like Kucinich raises millions. A loony toon named Howard Dean raised huge piles of money because of his loony left message. But he was an angry nut from Vermont and all that money couldn't buy him respectability.

And he still worked for years to limit the First Ammendment. i’ve put up with McCain’s crap for 20 years, he’s not conservative where it matter to me.

Sure the product sucks, they’re politicians. The bigger the profile of the race the more money it takes. Just getting yourself on the ballot in 50 states costs a bunch of money.

Buckets of money just setting around waiting for a place to send it. Fred Thompson will have no problems at all when it comes to money.

who said anything about no money at all? You’re the one trying to say money isn’t important. Kucinich raised millions but he didn’t raise enough millions to ever be a serious candidate. And Dean spent his money poorly. The top end candidates will always be the ones that raise the most. Heck it takes money just to go get more money, those fund raising dinners don’t organize themselves.

Rudy’s going as far as his cash will take him. He’ll go further than McCain, but he’s fighting for the same exact cash as Romney and we all know who’s got an edge in that fight.

What I like is the top three do not seem to be hitting on each other and seem to be holding each other in high respect trying not to alienate Republican voters and maybe even keeping open the possibility of one of the three running for VP. Unlike the the Democrats who’s top 2 have been in a pretty vicious fight.
