That is your right. I was giving MY opinion and people are free to ignore it.

It just seems to me that while Guiliani may be too liberal for our tastes, he realizes that the base is more conservative and he isn't going to actively undermine anything like the status quo on abortion. In fact, he might appoint judges who would vote to send the issue back to the states, where it belongs.

All I know is that the election of Hillary or Obama will put people in power who actually want to destroy this country. I will vote for whoever is running against them on the Republican ticket.

Dear Miss Marple,

“That is your right. I was giving MY opinion and people are free to ignore it.”

Your opinion only?

You seemed to give it in a way that was prespective. Here’s what you said:

“You support whoever you deem to be the best candidate, and in the general election you vote for the Republican because a Hillary or Obama presidency is absolutely unacceptable.”

By addressing it in the second person, it seems as if you’re saying that this is what ought to be normative behavior and thinking.

It shouldn’t be.

“...he realizes that the base is more conservative and he isn’t going to actively undermine anything like the status quo on abortion.”

Having been told what a forthright, let-the-chips-fall-where-they-may type of charcter, why in the world would I believe that? Why in the world would I believe that this fellow who seems to be guided by his own lights would do anything other than follow those lights?

“In fact, he might appoint judges who would vote to send the issue back to the states, where it belongs.”

That seems to be nothing but wishful thinking, especially in light of the fact that he appointed nearly all liberal judges when mayor, even though he had significant control over the nominating process.

“All I know is that the election of Hillary or Obama will put people in power who actually want to destroy this country.”

And will engender stubborn, obstinate opposition.

Mr. Giuliani will destroy the country WITH the support of Congressional Republicans.
