McCain Raises $12.5M
Hotline ^ | 4/2/07

Posted on 04/02/2007 11:38:15 AM PDT by areafiftyone

During the first quarter of 2007, John McCain 2008 campaign received nearly 60,000 contributions from all 50 states, averaging $200 per contribution. The McCain campaign will report over $12.5 million in contributions for the first quarter.

Campaign Manager Terry Nelson said, “Although we are pleased with the organization we’ve built and polls show us strongly positioned in key primary states, we had hoped to do better in first quarter fundraising. We are already in the process of taking the necessary steps to ensure fundraising success moving forward.” Nelson added, “Fundraising in the first quarter is no more important than fundraising throughout the entire primary election campaign.”

So McCain and Rudy basically tied in 1Q and Mitt raised the most funds. Meanwhile, Thompson hasn't even entered the race and he outpolls Mitt by a considerable amount.

Mitt could spend that entire 23 million and not have Fred's current name recognition.

Sad, so sad. Maybe he would like to rethink some of his maverick status. I notice the media has thrown him overboard, he has definitely last his usefulness to them. You would have thought he woud have been smart enough to figure this out.

Hey John. It looks like it's time to pull the Plane Wreck Express into the pits.

One has to wonder what sort of person would give McCain money. I wouldn't give him a dime, but I'd be more than willing to give him a piece of my mind. ;)

>> Fred who? <<

"That guy from Law and Order." You know, the guy who pretends to be the guy Rudy Giuliani was before anyone knew who Rudy Giuliani was. That is, head of a NY prosecutor's office. (yeah, yeah, Rudy worked in the US DOJ, not the NYC DA...)

Hey, say what you want, but Fred does a better job of pretending to be a NYer than Hillary does.

Mitt Romney, meet Phil Gramm. Better yet, meet Lamar Alexander. Better still, meet Paul Tsongas.

Fred who?

EXACTLY. Despite what Fred supporters would like to claim, most people don't know who the guy is "by name". Do a man on the street poll and very few actually know who he is outside of his region of the country. Hint: Most people don't watch Law-Order. Most people don't even know he was a 1+ term Senator. Most people don't know what he stands for. Most people don't pay attention to anything outside of that which directly affects their lives. Most people would know him as "that guy in HfRO or any other movie that had a few lines." He's not a "star" that everyone would know by name. Polls shmolls. Lemme go find the polls with Howie Dean running waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the pack...and we all know how THAT turned out. Polls are especially worthless this far out, concerning who is or is not leading. MONEY is the important factor because it'll take money to reach all those that don't know who you are or what you stand for...specifically.....and Fred'll have a hard time hitting up all the same donors for the same $$Millions that the others have already hit 'em up for. ....and he doesn't like that part of campaigning....the arse kissing for $$$$ part. Keep dreamin'...

Doesn't matter. They know his face. And his voice. A few adds and TV news appearances will connect both to the name.

That's a pretty funny thing for a Rudy booster to be saying now.

We have too many people in the GOP who actually believe McCrazy is the most electable candidate. I guess they have confused media fawning with electability.

Shows how much you assume and are incorrect on. I am in no way and have never been nor ever will be a Rudy supporter....but nice try. Got any more stances of mine you need to spoon-feed me?

If all Fred has is "they know his face/voice"....and that's all he really has besides Admiral Painter saying "This business will get out of control! It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it!", ....well...I've got a few hundred celebrities right off the top of my head that "they the voters" know every aspect of...every move in their sordid lives, including every issue-stance taken and Fred doesn't make the list.

Outside of the very few of us that pay attention to all things political, he's a big fat unknown. It'll take Fred the same approx. $100 million that it'll take every viable candidate.....and that's not even the general election costs.

What the hell is this obsession with fred thompson?

WTF has he done? Everyone screams he's this great conservative hope, but this guy flipped on abortion too, he voted for mccain feingold, and only has an acu rating of 86. All of his fans trumpet the 86 like its something to behold, but it's not that high, its roughly the average of the senate gop caucus. The more conservative members of the senate usually score in the 90s, like santorum and allen both were around 92-93, brownback is like 95 and demint closer to a 100. Under that rationale we shoudl just nominate brownback since he's the 'true' conservative.

I am amazed at some of the rampant hippocracy of the Thompson supporters. Some of these guys last year were attacking allen saying we couldn't support the guy because he's a senator, and they flip flop one year later and are frothing at the mouth over thompson.

thompson has NO executive experience, he's just another senator. To compare him to ronald reagan is an insult because ronald reagan ran california for 8 years, what the hell has fred done? Being a lawyer doesn't count as any executive experience. I dont think some senator with 0 executive experience running this country is such a great idea.

At least the 'big three' have some level of experience. Thompson has diddly. Oh i forgot, he's got a great southern drawl.

I hate governments run by hippos too.

He never flipped on abortion - NR messed up in calling him pro-choice in 1994. His abortion voting record is stellar. He's also recanted on CFR (unlike Rudy), is solidly pro-gun, is for border security first, and finally has a wide range of experience, a strong sense of gravitas, and plenty of face recognition that normally takes tens of millions of dollars to generate.

At least the 'big three' have some level of experience. Thompson has diddly.

The problem is, the experience of the front three is largely liberal. Fred has plenty of experience. You ain't a slouch in taking Al Gore's old Senate seat away from the Dems and then keeping it, both by resounding margins, and then chairing the Governmental Affairs Committee.
