The separatists ARE socialists. All they had going for them was their independence stance, which helped them pick up a number of voters from socially conservative Quebecois who wanted to send a protest message against Ottawa's overbearing interference in Quebec's affairs. Remove that and the broad appeal of the PQ evaporates. Two of Quebec's parties (the Quebec Liberals and ADQ) represent a different approach: free markets, small government and Quebec autonomy within Canada. That is the right prescription for change and for Quebec's future.
