As I pilot and a vet, I love this A/C, but....

How does this deal with an enemy who shoots at our forces once per week, then buries his AK-47 again?

AK-47; Automat Kalisnakov, Model 1947. 60 years old and still as effective as any rifle we deploy (using the term effective in the real-world sense, not in a theoretical sense.)

Finally, how does this A/C defeat an enemy that spends nothing on A/C, but anytime it needs a "smart-bomb" and aircraft to "deliver" it simply steals one of our 757 or 767 A/C and crashes it into the WTC, as accurately as any "smart-bomb' we have?

It can put a hurt on the people who fund the guy who buries his AK-47.

But ... we gotta have the political will to do that.

The Lightning II won't be ready until 2015?? Is it being bogged down because there are so many NATO nations participating in it's construction/design?

The partner nations are the only thing keeping the F-35 alive. The production costs and unit costs would killl the project if we lost a significant number of partners.

One sticking point is giving out the source code for the flight control system. Britain, a major partner, wants that code for future improvements but LM isn't budging.

It's the irony. We develop weapons that stand off danger in sophiiisticated manner, yet we open borders to human infections, aids and "don't hate" but "lve" pedophiling society. ak47? try a f@g's penis.

If Block II+ would be Ultra Hornet, what would the stealthier Block III be? Super Ultra Hornet Deluxe?

You (and Mao) are so right.

I'm writing a piece on "The Myths of the WOT"

1: It's not a WOT

2: It's a classic guerrilla campaign

3: All the emphasis on "country" ie; Iran, Iraq, Syria is a meaningless Western viewpoint now used by the Wahabist factions to hide their true structure. The countries of SWA are nothing more than 1926 inventions of Lord Balfour. Islamics see themselves as Islamics first, members of their sect second, members of their tribe third, extended family members fourth, and then finally, Iranians, Iraqis, etc.

4: You cannot defeat the UCS (Unconventional soldier) on the battlefield because he gets to chose where, when, how to fight and retire from battlefield when it does not go his way. (reference to Mao's Four Rules)

5: Although you cannot defeat the UCW on the battlefield, the UCW cannot win without extensive logistical, training and political support of 3d party. (The only reason the Colonial UCWs under Washington defeated Cornwallis at Yorktown is that the French fleet was standing offshore, preventing the British fleet from evacuating Cornwallis to NY.)

6: It past, country-sized support organizations were needed to make a guerrilla war possible. Now it's an trans-national quasi-religious movement.

7: We have a choice, use the weapons of OUR choice to defeat the supporters of the WOT, or lose to the UCW in the field.

"As I pilot and a vet, I love this A/C, but....

How does this deal with an enemy who shoots at our forces once per week, then buries his AK-47 again?"

It drops things on him that go "boom!". :-)

Finding that enemy is the hard part, but we have other parts of the combined arms team for that.

"AK-47; Automat Kalisnakov, Model 1947. 60 years old and still as effective as any rifle we deploy (using the term effective in the real-world sense, not in a theoretical sense.)"

Absolutely not. The AK-47 has been pitifully ineffective in Iraq against our body armor. Thank goodness!

"Finally, how does this A/C defeat an enemy that spends nothing on A/C, but anytime it needs a "smart-bomb" and aircraft to "deliver" it simply steals one of our 757 or 767 A/C and crashes it into the WTC, as accurately as any "smart-bomb' we have?"

"anytime"??? I haven't seen any planes crashing into buildings for almost six years...largely due to the efforts of our military including the Super Hornets I might add.

As is usually pointed out on these threads, we need defenses against many different types of enemy, not just one.

At any rate, if you want to see how useful airpower is in the WOT, check out the video below. It should prove enlightening. (BTW the munition involved is a cluster munition, contrary to what the clueless talking head says.)

Terrorists not having a good day
