C-SPAN sent me an e-mail last night asking, "Are there plans for any upcoming pro-troop events?"
After I finished laughing, I replied that the Gathering of Eagles are working on a rally with Rolling Thunder on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, but that we are not ready to make a formal announcement. (We still aren't, FYI.)
This morning, C-SPAN called me and asked me if I knew of any support the troops rallies happening soon anywhere in the country.
I told them about the Vietnam veterans reunion in Florida at the end of April. They said they were looking for something sooner. After we hung up I remembered a pro-troops rally on April 10 in Jefferson City, Missouri, being held by the Missouri state government Veterans Committee and e-mailed the info to C-SPAN.
In all my years of dealing with C-SPAN, they have never come to me and asked if we have anything going on that they could cover. It looks like all the phone calls to C-SPAN by Freepers and Eagles criticizing their decision to not cover the Gathering of Eagles got their attention.
The ANSWER rally that C-SPAN chose to cover live that day was such a dud that C-SPAN only replayed it once: at five in the morning.
C-SPAN and the rest of the mainstream media gave the tens of thousands of Eagles who came to D.C. that day an object lesson in media bias. It's nice that C-SPAN came calling, but it's too late to repair the damage done to their credibility.
bttt
D.C. Chapter mega ping. Good freeping!

Translation: CSPAN is still feeling the pain of their decision to completely ignore and totally blow off a huge rally that showed support for our troops and our country.
Good. I hope they are still getting phone calls and emails from PO'd Eagles who were there (or who wished they could have been there) on March 17th .
Now, my answer to the CSPAN phone call would have been this:
"A support the troops rally? Well, there is the one on March 17th... Oh, wait! You knew about that one weeks in advance and you chose to ignore it. Why are you calling me now, when you wouldn't even give us the time of day a month ago?"
And then I would remind them that Rolling Thunder and the GOE are having a rally on the Saturday of Rolling Thunder weekend, in May, and I'd ask them if we can expect to see them there covering it.
That's why I'd never make a good politician, I suppose. I calls 'em like I sees 'em.
DC Chapter ping!
Actually, this is good news, Kristinn--it says that it took GOE to turn the tide--but it sure looks like turn it they did.
Wow!! This is good news. Maybe they are realizing that to support the troops is a GOOD thing afterall!!!
Thanks GOE!! It's because of all of you!!!
My apologies for the duplicate DC Chapter ping.
You are right, but it is a needed tool that we can use to show the left that THERE ARE people out here that don't agree with them!! That we are tired of the left being the only thing seen on TV. The Nation as a whole needs to see that there is actually another side....so use c-span or any other media outlet as a tool.
There is an event in Plymouth Mass, but not large enough for CSPAN to cover as anything more than a news bite.
On Memorial Day, we are going to have a 24 hour fundraiser for the Troops, where Veterans and Reservists stand 1 hour watches for 24 hours at attention, to draw people to make donations of money and goods.
Last year, they raised $20,000 in one day.

I see your btt and raise you a BUMP!!!!
Poetic justice at it's best.
And then when the next ANSWER/UFPJ/WWP/ISO/RCP/etc. rally gets covered nonstop by CSPAN, they can say they gave fair coverage to our side on (fill-in-the-date).
