All corruption probes at stake, U.S. argues
WASHINGTON -- If objections by Rep. William Jefferson's attorneys to the historic raid of his congressional office are upheld, "many, if not all, public corruption investigations" would be jeopardized, the Justice Department said in a court filing Friday.
The department, which has been conducting a corruption investigation of the New Orleans Democrat for the past two years, is responding to the contention that the raid was so heavy-handed that the government should be barred from using any records taken during the May 20-21, 2006 search of Jefferson's Capitol Hill office.
Jefferson has not been charged and denies wrongdoing.

Jefferson has not been charged ................
Justice is swift! (/s)
FREEZERGATE will end up just like BERGERGATE.
Is "freezerman" ever going to be prosecuted?
Oh wait, he's a Democrat.
Uhhh, why is this man not sharing a cell with Duke Cunningham?
Three things come to mind over the words "heavy handed".
1. Waco
2. Ruby Ridge
3. Elian Gonzales
As Lord Acton said so eloquently, "Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Well, la de da! Hillary takes 900+ FBI files and the FBI is too corrupt to pursue it. Is even proud of it! A Senator gets special treatment in high crime? Gonzales should have went after her 1st thing. So should Ascroft. We're gettin the bat shoved our ass and nobody's doing a thing about it.
They sure didn't drag their heals prosecuting Scooter Libby.
In other words, the evidence uncovered in the raid is so devastating to Rep. Jefferson that it needs to be suppressed.
So much for the the concerns for honest gov.
Cunningham was neither a Democrat nor a protected specie. Besides, San Fran Nan is the Alpha female. One little growl from her and all of the Republicans rollover, throw their legs in the air and piss all over themselves in submission. Think of the show those yellow curs are going to put on if Hitlary gets elected.
" ... so stupid as to leave incriminating evidence in their public offices".
I have no doubt that some in Congress have stashed immmoral goods (such as child porn/bestiality) in their public offices. Nobody should think everyone in Congress works late at night just on the people's business.
I believe I understand Congressman William Jefferson's (Democrat, Louisiana) stash of cash, and his reluctance to share information about it.
Perhaps he received an email from Nigeria, just as I (and perhaps you) did. The message was from a Nigerian prince who's father died, and he needed assistance getting his inheritance out of the country. The prince probably offered Congressman William Jerfferson (Democrat, Louisiana) a significant share of his money if he helped. (I know the offer I had was impressive!)
If the prince instructed him to keep this confindential, I'm sure he felt the refrigerator was an ideal place for it.
Actually, I'm impressed he received it. After emailing the prince my bank account number, he tried to deposit the funds in my bank... but there was an expense, and it took the entire $12.00 I had in my checking account. So he said he would have to seek other "partners" in his investment.
I am hopeful that if Congressman William Jefferson (Democrat of Louisiana)doesn't get this thing settled, the Nigerian prince will email me again. I have received my "Unearned Income Tax Refund" check from the IRS, and have over $72 in my bank account now. So, perhaps we can do "biness" again.
:o)
Why has he not been indicted? Are the feds afraid to bring justice?
The email from "Nigeria" may actually be from a congressional office. Ever think of that? I sometimes send them a reply saying "No thanks Congersman" usually it's returned undeliverable. If it goes to some one bet it rattles them.
Yep, and one of the greatest fighter aces in American history--Duke Cunningham--rots in prison. If you will not prosecute a crook like Jefferson, Mr President, then please pardon Duke today.
Investigating for 2 years...is there something we missed? Bribe money in freezer...story ends.
