Former Tennessee U.S. senator and television actor Fred Dalton Thompson has not decided whether to run for president in 2008, but that hasn't stopped people from talking as if he is in the race.
There is a Draft Thompson Web site, www.fred08.com, launched by U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Chattanooga, that asks for contributions and moral support. The site also compares Thompson, first elected to the Senate in 1994, to former President Ronald Reagan.

Others quoted in the Post story last week:
The only downside to a Thompson candidacy might hit those who enjoy him more on television shows than in the political arena. The Post cited political observers as noting that, if Thompson throws his hat in the ring, he would likely disappear from the airwaves except in news programs. That would include reruns of "Law & Order."
In that respect, the comparison to Reagan, whose movies were dropped during the 1980 presidential campaign, would be on target.
LOL - GREAT point!
Yeah, right...that's the ticket.
In the meantime, support the best candidate who supports the conservative cause. Duncan Hunter '08
Duncan Hunter might be a wonderful man and a great conservative, but he cannot go up against Hillary Clinton's star power. Fred can. Thompson/Hunter sounds good, though.
Bite your tongue!

I'm with you!! Everyone keeps chasing someone who has not announced when we already have a real conservative running!
I have nothing against Fred Thompson but don't really know that much about him. And as far as star quality, I have never seen an episode of Law and Order or anything else he has acted in. If he really is conservative, my first concern would be, what exactly is his stance on pro-life issues.

If you'd like to be added to the Fred Thompson list, let Howlin or me know.
CAUTION: This is a very high volume ping list. You may receive between 5 and 10 pings a day. If you'd rather not receive so many pings, let me know and I'll only ping you once a week.
Love the new graphic! That's undoubtedly a keeper.
Hey .. NICE! ;) How'd ya do that?
Uh-oh. (And what the hell are "conservative bearing" and "conservative presence?" I didn't know someone could have such things. Does he have "conservative ideas" and "conservative positions?" Or is Lamar simply talking out of his @$$?)
You sure do speak plain plainspeaker.

Thompson: 'charisma tufts of hair out of his ears'
There.
That's better.
FDT needs to hurry and throw his hat into the ring.
Today will be just fine.
Pot, meet Kettle. :)
Nice!!
I'm also supporting someone who actually announced his candidacy.
That IS neat .. what'll they think of next, huh?
How do you have the picture clickable to a URL link? That's a real mystery to me .. ;)
The basic problem goes beyond Bush. Harry Truman was a great executive, probably the best administrator we have ever had as President, and he not only hired Hoover to propose significant reforms, but implemented many of the, HOWEVER, what overwhelmed even him was the sheet size of the Federal Government, and the inescapable fact that an effective government needs great administrators at the highest levels. Even Truman had only one George Marshall.
