The British will have to ease out of the task they undertook to secure the sea routes to southern Iraq and its southern oil installations. This extra burden will devolve on the United States.

To me that is 100% positive. If the British are going to do the job armed with pea-shooters, and then not even allowed to use them, I'd rather the US do the job.
