The dems are mostly like old-time dem Louisiana politics. Voters were happy to keep electing crooks because they figured they would share in the graft, even on a lesser scale.

As I recall, there is some famous quote that essentially says the end of a democracy is when the electorate comes to the conclusion that they can elect candidates that give them money from the public trough...well, that's happened.
