With all the publicity about the contaminated food, tens of thousands of people are now rushing off to the vet at the slightest sign of Fluffy or Fido being a little under the weather

Yeah, what idiots. How dare they!!!!

I’m not suggesting people shouldn’t run their pets to the vet when the pet seems ill. But assuming that any kidney trouble that is then diagnosed must be related to tainted pet food is a huge leap that a lot of people seem to be making. No doubt a lot of these pets were long overdue for a vet visit before this pet food scare, and would have been diagnosed with kidney failure at a much earlier, more treatable stage, if it hadn’t taken a nationwide panic to get their owners to take them to the vet.
