I suppose it is easier to intercept a iranian missile than a syrian, right?

I wonder if this is actually true - or if putting out this news is a way of deflecting Iran from sabre rattling.

Also, I certainly do not think any such technology should be sold to Turkey. There are just too many possibilities of spies getting a hold of the product and building up a better missile capable of getting through the shield.

"If someone thinks that a large percentage of his missiles will be intercepted, he will think twice before attacking," Herzog said.
Not if they could mass launch the cheap missiles.

The longer it takes to fly, the more time could be there to detect and intercept.

No defensive system, the Arrow or anything else, gives "full protection" against madmen.

The only full protection against Iran is dead leaders of that unfortunate land. Lots of dead leaders. Maybe thousands....

Good for them. Now we will not have to take the blame for the Patriot missing occasionally.

They must expect a counter-attack soon, and they're giving notice.

Is some attack in the air?

Or a way to avoid dealing with the Iranian threat. They could say no need to take out Iranian nukes since they have this missile defense. Just like the security fence was a substitute for a tough defense policy this is the airborne version of the security fence.

The fact that one missile with either nukes or bio/chemical weapons might get through would make the Israelis wonder if this is the real answer.

The article says it's for ballistic missiles. So what about cruise missiles?

It's true. Israel's been pursuing effective ballistic missile defense since the Gulf War with diligence, intelligence and passion that would do Thomas Edison proud. The problem is that if when Iran gets a nuke, it'll be delivered in the trunk of a stolen taxi cab, not by ballistic missile.

The silo electronics in seven silos are being replaced for about $25 million due to flooding in the unusually heavy rainfall last summer at Fort Greely. The seven silos are under construction and do not have operational ABMs. The operational silos have remained fully operational all along.

A common assumption is that Iran would first fire hundreds of conventionally armed Scuds to deplete the supply of interceptors before unloading the ones with chemical or nuclear warheads.
