guns are the "first line of deterrence and a last line of defense."

sounds a lot like this applies to the general public, and not just pilots...

American merchant ships had a .38 revover with 100 rounds in the captains safe. Planes should do the same, no need to bring one on, its there in the cockpit already.

"Arm the pilots" was the first thing my commercial-pilot husband said the minute he saw the Twin Towers go down.

Obviously, the anti-gun forces in this country have forgotten that yes, those evil guns do protect people too.
