This is the fuzzy headed thinking that passes for strategic thought in the think-tank world.
There is no way - no way! - that China could ever attack, invade, and occupy Taiwan; not with the US 7th fleet in the way.
First, any attack would be repulsed by air forces from the US and Taiwan.
Second, the invasion fleet will end up in Davy Jones locker, thanks to the US submarine force.
Third, any airborne invasion will be shot out of the sky, killing thousands of Chinese troops. Any lucky enough to make it to Taiwan will be attacked and killed by Taiwan forces. Reinforcements are impossible.
This article is just some amateur trying to get a headline.
"Third, any airborne invasion will be shot out of the sky, killing thousands of Chinese troops. Any lucky enough to make it to Taiwan will be attacked and killed by Taiwan forces. Reinforcements are impossible. "
Fourth, if they even got to the island, how are they going to hold it and get reinforcements there?
I don't see a point to China destroying Taiwan. If they wanted to do that, they would have done that years ago.
