From strictly a military capability standpoint, I think the US wins against China.
It's policy and PC bullcrap that would doom us. If we fought a war with China the way we've fought in Iraq, we lose. If we fought it like we fought WWII, and take the damn gloves off, we win.
Not so sure. If China gets ashore in Taiwan it could be over very quickly. Then we have the choice of ejecting them (that'd be nuclear you can bet on it), or acquiescing to the new status quo
>If we fought it like we fought WWII, and take the damn gloves off, we win.<
Just makle damn sure we don't start another Lend Lease Program with our allies!

I'm not so sure we have the industrial base to fight like WWII. Where is Rosie The Riveter going to get those rivets? Not Bethlehem Steel.
"If we fought it like we fought WWII, and take the damn gloves off, we win."
And I agree.
But that was a different generation with a different demographic make up, and with different immigration policies.
Current immigration policies and laws will eventually do us in.
Beware the enemy within!
Not necessarily. China has way more populace than we do, and can afford to lose 3/4 and still come out ahead. They also have plenty of mountainous territory for them to shelter in if necessary. In a nuke war, China would survive better than the US. But we'd throw enough nukes into the mix that the earth would be poisoned for the next 100+ years anyway...so the whole idea is moot. Nobody would really win.
