It LOOKS cool. That's it. Of course it doesn't run Office, or hold customized inventory databases and apps, like my Palm does. And my palm also plays mp3's of course, hundreds of them with my 4GB SD card and pockettunes. But the Palm doesn't look as COOOOL. Yawn. I am so bored with "Apple chic". Even the most expensive Palm is ~1/2 the cost of the iPhone.

How much is the iPhone going to cost? The Treo retails for something like $650. The iPhone is $1300?

Even the most expensive Palm is ~1/2 the cost of the iPhone. That's a good point, and price will be decisive, but I don't think so. Just IMHO.

The cost of the thing is where I drew the line, when I was considering waiting to upgrade my phone. The iPhone is something like $499 to $599, depending on memory. I have a Cingular 8525, which is a pocket PC, plays songs from iTunes on my 2G memory card and is a phone. It cost me $350. I guess if you don't already own an iPod or MP3 player and want to upgrade your cell phone to the iPhone, it may be a bargain.
