That's not what Sampson said today. He said it was a topic of daily discussion in the DoJ. What I don't understand is why Gonzales would have been untruthful about something so minor.

That's part of Gonzales' problem right now. Either he wasn't in charge or much aware of the the firing of 8 of his staff or he was more informed than he led on. It makes no sense why he would lie here. He has every right to fire them at his discretion why would he claim he wasn't deeply involved in their all being let got the same day? All he had to say was, "I decided they were no longer needed."
