The great irony of these rants is these women are free to pursue their "lifestyles", which would have them persecuted or dead on the regimes they claim to support. Why don't these so called feminists decry the oppression of women who are refused education, and subjected to the whims and wills of their men? Why would they rather see their own country run by a policital whore and her impeached, rapist husband than a born again Christian and his librarian wife? You can't rationalise the irrational. There's a move afoot to get Don Imus to visit Baghdad. Why not send Rosie to Kabul? She could teach some girls' classes about how she is a feminist and wishes they could not attend school like the old days. She could meet with some women elected to the Jirga and lecture them on how the Taliban was better. She could buy and wear some Burqa's, which would be a relief to us all.
In the past, people like these were not given the platform to deliver their message. They were relegated to the shadows of society.
Today, with the internet, cable TV, talk radio, satellite radio etc, there are many, many more channels to fill. This competitiveness has led some to feature the most extreme as a means to garner attention to their channel.
While technology has produced great things, it has come with a price (like all things in life).
The outrageousness on display today is already falling on deaf ears, forcing the extreme to ratchet up their hysteria.
It will pass over time. Take Rush's advice.....turn off the TV, don't read the papers and tune out the talk radio for a week......your eyes will open to the greatness around you.
