Why, in poll after poll, including the new TIME poll, does that advantage seem to disappear whenever voters are asked to pick a president in hypothetical head-to-head match-ups among front-runners with solid name recognition. In our poll, Hillary Clinton loses to John McCain, 42-48%, and to Rudy Giuliani 41-50%. Even though Clinton maintains a 7% edge over Obama among Democratic respondents, Obama fares better in the general election match-ups. It's so close that it's a statistical dead-heat, but Obama still loses: 43-45% to McCain, 44-45% to Giuliani.
It's hard to know exactly why respondents who are generally unhappy towards — and in many cases fed up with — the GOP might still prefer a Republican for president over a Democrat. Much of it has to do with the individual candidates involved. In Clinton's case, as TIME pollster Mark Schulman points out, "with Hillary the Democratic front-runner, most voters have made up their minds about her, both pro and con. She may have limited upward potential against Republicans. The emerging anti-Hillaries, Obama and Edwards, suffer from low awareness at this point."

I am not in the habit of believing politicians, just because they say something. Let me give you a little reminder:
1979-1980: George H.W. Bush calls Reagan's economic plan "voodoo economics."
1981-1989: Under Reagan, Bush goes along with Reagan's policies and the American economy has an incredible run.
1988: GHWB says, "Read my lips, no new taxes."
Need I remind you how that campaign promise worked out? And for the record, I trust GHWB FAR MORE than I will ever trust Rudy.
Rule #1: Politicians will LIE THEIR ASSES OFF to win elections.
That is a fair point. But I wont hang George HW Bush's rope around Rudy's neck. I trust Rudy. I have no reason not to trust the man. Im finishing up school here as a Criminal Justice major and have read a lot about his involement in the broken windows theroy. He was the only mayor with the conviction to implement the program. I hate bringing up 9/11 when supporting him because its such a commmon theme with him but hes proven. How can you not trust him?
I havent grown completely cynical yet then. I trust Rudy more than I do Rommney or McCain or certainly Fred Thompson.
If I were opposed to Fred Thompson, I'd spread a story like that too.
Gee, maybe the aide was taking the truck for new tires and an oil change. Maybe Fred had a date. Maybe he was picking up
campaigners and needed more room. Maybe Fred wanted to hit the freeway for a while.

Thompson beat the Hildebeast in a poll last week. I don't have time to look it up. He came within striking distance of Obama.
Without any campaigning.
Which Rudy should we trust?:
A. The pro-abortion, pro-militant homosexualism, anti-Second Amendment, pro-illegal immigration Rudy.
or
b. The say whatever you think the voters want to hear Rudy?
Because when a candidate's statements on the campaign trail are diametrically opposed to EVERYTHING he has done in his political career, it gets very difficult to believe them.
I have not seen that. It suprises me but Ill give you the benefit of the doubt. Interesting. Im still not on that train but that is interesting.
WEll prehaps Rudy was doing what his people of NYC wanted on certain issues. Now he has the whole United States. Prehaps those are places he decided it was easiest to negotiate to get his crime reforms and fiscal plans through. Sounds kind of like Reagan seeing the big picture, negotiate on taxes but stand firm on winning the Cold War. What was more important to Rudy, gay marriange, in New York city no less, or cutting the murder rates and saving the city fiscally. HMMMMMMMM.
I can believe verifiable facts and still reject unverifiable rumors spread by New Republic.
And referring to Rudy as "Reagan 2" only serves to obliterate your credibility.
He didn't "negotiate" any of these things, they are his CORE PRINCIPLES.

The piece was published in TNR but the article was from another paper. You can conspiracy theroize all you want, dont believe it, but its out there, ignore the fakeness all you want.
I dont know much about her.
And TNR is a respectable source. They arent raving lefties headhunting.
