I like Rudy. And I like Thompson. I think either one would destroy the Democrats. And the terrorists. A ticket with both...now there's a dream ticket.

The liberals like Giuliani would LOVE the flat tax..
The flat tax would become a VALUE ADDED TAX.. quicker than a Harry Reid land deal..

VALUE ADDED TAX = taxing something so many times the count is lost by the time that item gets to the consumer.. The taxes exceed the price of the item..

I know...the polls backed by the "money" and not common sense. I know who backs him and they are living in a dream world.

"Don't forget that the MSM doesn't miss a chance to show Giuliani in as negative a light as possible"

Oh, because the thing they want is for the GOP to nominate some awful conservative who will lose, I forgot. Gawrsh, I wish I'd remembered to set my decoder ring so I coulda read Rudy's secret message hidden in this article. /sarc

Maybe it's so easy for the MSM to make Rudy look bad to conservatives because RUDY'S A RINO. Maybe Hillary's afraid of Rudy because he'll TAKE THE LEFT AWAY FROM HER. Maybe I'm wasting my time talking to someone who's obviously already mainlining the Radical Rudy flavor KoolAid.

Given that hillary has not only the activist groups at her/its beck and call, but also a mafioso attack machine, she would have the "other candidates" for breakfast and would crap out the buttons in the afternoon.
Elections are NOT won by the base [unless a charismatic candidate manages to subsume the base], but elections are LOST by the base, if that base is frothing at the mouth and repels everybody else. Elections are won in the middle.

Kyl endorsed McCain, IIRC.

He sure did, but I wouldn't be surprised if McCain drops out before New Hampshire. His campaign is cratering. Also, it's common to bring someone in from the rival's camp to increase the appeal to the party (Reagan/Bush, for instance).

The base is the base...live with it. They are 75% Christian and they won't vote for Rudy. I don't care how much paid for press he gets. Sad truth.

and who isn't "living in a dream world"?

the base? they aren't living in a dream world, the base that couldn't return Talent, Allen and Santorum to the senate in 2006.

So they are a fickled base but they aren't going to vote for a guy that looks gay and supports abortion. How do you overcome that? Not by throwing good money at it.

The conservative case for Rudy

"Giuliani has a conservative worldview. As Steven Malanga noted in City Journal, "Far from being a liberal, he ran New York with a conservative's priorities." Government exists above all to keep people safe in their homes and in the streets, he said, not to redistribute income, run a welfare state, or perform social engineering. The private economy, not government, creates opportunity, he argued; government should just deliver basic services well and then get out of the private sector's way. He denied that cities and their citizens were victims of vast forces outside their control, and he urged New Yorkers to take personal responsibility for their lives."

Giuliani has a record he can run on. Unlike McCain, his main rival for the Republican nomination, or his Democratic counterparts Hillary Clinton, Barak Obama, or John Edwards, he is not a product of the U.S. Two years ago, I wrote a column, "NYC crime rate cut with penalties," in which I detailed the success of Rudy Giuliani's robust policing where homicides fell by 67 percent under his leadership. Abortions dropped 16.9 percent during his reign, the foster care population fell 38 percent as over 17,000 children were adopted, 17 charter schools were established, and over 20 percent of taxes where slashed, saving the tax payers over $9.8 billion. These are a few of the tangible results Giuliani accomplished as mayor."

Guys, c'mon. This is pure election-year politics talking here. What are the odds of a flat-tax passing Congress? Rudy has ZERO credibility. I mean, we're talking about a presidential candidate who supports abortion right up until birth. What makes you think he'll be credible on the other issues as well?

Well, then the idea becomes to swamp the base. Eminently doable, and high time to do it, too, as every "base' - be it DU, sharptonite, or GOP's - is a gross embarrassment.

Jeez...Tax reform...What a great idea! Too bad the current administration added to the tax code instead of streamling it.

So good to hear real issues being discussed again.....queers getting married and flag burning were getting pretty stale.
