Actually, Reagan's approval rating bottomed out around 45%. Bush's hits the 30-35% mark.
He also didn't have the internet movement hounding every move he makes, and the media didn't hate him the way they hate W.
The media hated Reagan. They pounded him mercilessly. Then RR would go on TV, and talk directly to the American people. With his brilliant communications skills, he was able to counteract much of the MSM damage.
On some rare occasions, President Bush has exhibited flashes of great communications skills. But more often, he doesn't come across so well.
I hope that he follows some aspects of Rush's advice, and accompanies his veto of the surrender bill with an appropriately fierce speech.
