This makes no sense. He should be able to win the democratic party nomination, so why would he run 3rd party instead?

Evidently, Gore thinks he can't beat Mrs. Clinton for the Democrat nomination.

But, apparently he sees himself as the next Prophet. Only he can lead us from temptation of pollution.

Supposedly, he is motivated by the religious thinggy.

Simple. The DNC is operated by Clinton hacks. Gore is smart enough to know that if he runs in the Dem party, he has no chance. He's also smart enough to know that if he runs as a Green, he will most likely kill Hil's chances. I think its the second thing that really motivates him. There is no love lost between Gore and the Clintons.

It's a threat. He's trying to neuter the Clinton machine before he gets into the Dem primary by blackmailing them with a potential Green Party run. To keep them in check, so to speak.

Gore, his people and the entire Democrat party still hold Ralph Nader personally responsible for 2000. They all know what a Green Party candidacy means to the Democrats. And they all know that if it's Gore, he'll end Hillary's chances in 2008.

It's actually a pretty decent power play by the bloated Leninist. When he enters the race, Hillary's going to be forced to play nice.
