Having lived through the horrible Carter years, Ronald Reagan was like someone breathing new life into someone who was dying.
Looking back over those years, with Mr. Kengor's well- documented analysis, one sees what drove President Reagan, and his contagious optimism.
He was good person, and that decency always came out. He was treated badly by the press and the Democrats, much like they treat President Bush today.
One thing we never expected--was the end of the Cold War without a shot fired. We all expected that one side or the other would prevail, with a nuclear exchange more than a remote possibility.
His determination to fight Communism resulted in a changed world. Pope John Paul and Maggie Thatcher and Ronald Reaga- God used them do it. What was a dream became a reality, and freedom was ushered in for hundreds of millions of people.
When President Reagan passed away in 2004, the heartfelt outpouring of love was evident all along the routes of his funeral procession, both in DC and California.
We had been given a gift. History will be very kind to him.

Most of the books I have read about him are books like Ann Coulter's Treason, Sean Hannity's two books on America (In God We Trust and Let Freedom Ring), and the book Useful Idiots (can't remember the author). While their focus is on the anti-Americanism of liberals, they all go out of their way to show what kind of man Ronald Reagan was.
