An Internet company based in West Allis is back online after a worker's e-mail to a US soldier serving in Iraq shut the site down early this year. And, not only is the company back online, but Discount-mats.com is also bragging on its website that it is the site seen on major news networks. The reference is presumably a reference to the news the site made after the company's e-mail to Sergeant Jason Hess circulated the world via the Internet.
In January Sergeant Jason Hess sent the company an e-mail asking if it would ship mats to a special kind of address in Iraq. The company responded with an e-mail that said, "we do not ship to APO addresses, and even if we did, we would NEVER ship to Iraq. If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq."
At the time, the company claimed that it fired the employee who sent the e-mail. The company is run out of a home in West Allis.

Thank you for posting this. Might be time for round two of complaints to the company.
I wonder just how much bandwidth, firewall, AV, etc this "site" has...............and if any hackers who support the Troops might have had anything to do with the offline timeframe.......or any future downtime it might experience.......just wondering.
I think the best strategy is to identify and publicize other mat suppliers and resellers.

Dear Discount Mats, Do you sell prayer mats for swine?
Bargain Suppliers of West Allis said its discount-mats.com Web site had to be taken down to address the thousands of e-mails it's received since news of the exchange — in which an employee voiced opposition to the war in Iraq — began circulating on the Internet.
Vice president Sajid Nasir said the employee is being "held accountable." But he said the incendiary and threatening nature of some of the e-mails — and voicemails left at the West Allis home that co-owner Faisal Khetani shares with his parents — have shaken the family.
"It's really getting out of control," said Nasir, who described the messages as "angry and vulgar."
"Our main concern is for the safety of the family. That's more important than the business," he said.
This puts the entire incident into proper perspective.
Sandmaggots benefitting from our free society, but not quite grasping the reality that an "apology", followed by the opportunism of adding on their web site,
"As seen on
FOX News
CNN
NBC"
Simply adds insult to injury.
Some free advice.
Change the name of the company.
Never divulge the name of the owners.
Make sure you never launder funds destined for hamas or al-qaeda or some other terrorist charities.
Just sayin'...
