"A little under one-third of U.S. households have no Internet access and do not plan to get it"
Likely the elderly.
Like the uninformed.....I'm a bit elderly, I got it, "and don't you tell me I've never had a Coke before"!
My wife and I were just discussing the wisdom of giving our parents computers. Besides the headache of maintaining their computers (including two full-blown re-installs on the mother-in-law's pc in one year), they don't want to pay for broadband, so they're still on dialup. This may be fine for e-mail, but modern webpages are full of content that takes forever to download. Virusware and spyware updates alone are torture. I suggested to my wife that we point them to the library or a hotel lobby when their computers finally die a merciful death.
Most of the folks who invented the "internets" other than al gore are getting pretty close to elderly.
Wonder how many of those who say they don't want/need the internet are still paying AT&T to rent their phone every month.
Yes, I hate headlines like these. I am sure that once upon a time there were still millions of Americans who did not own a car.
I beg to differ. They are all over it! My ex-MIL taught a seniors course on the interwebz, and the class was always full.
