My tentative sense is that unless Rudy self implodes (unlikely) Fred Thompson is the only tangibly realistic roadblock to Rudy. Thompson if he is focused and disciplined, and gets in somewhat sooner than the fall, could derail Rudy. I don't see any other GOP candidate doing that, at the moment.

Rudy's support is weak. Fred will enter the race and I believe he will win the nomi'.

Good luck with that. .. The only other alternative is Romney, IMO, who might have more going for him than it looks like now.

Interesting. It's still early and anyone could make a mistake. I noticed that McCain has said he's not going to make his fund raising goal for this quarter. I don't know how Rudy is doing money wise?

My guess is that because Feb 5th is going to be such an important primary date - making Iowa, NH and SC all the more important - a candidate is not going to just need boatloads of money - they are going to need healthy organizations in each state. I just don't know if there really is a luxury of waiting very long to enter this race.
