The latest USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted Friday through Sunday, on the presidential race is out, and it's a humdinger. It's hard to say what the headline even is. Here are a few tries, though:
* Romney's support drops to within the margin of error of not existing (that's 3% support in a poll where the margin of error is 3%).
* Giuliani's support drops 13 percentage points since the last USA Today/ Gallup poll, March 2-4 (that's gotta hurt).
* Fred Thompson (not running, by the way) is now the No. 3 in the GOP field, at 12%.

Thompson is considerably fatter and balder now than he was a few years ago. And, he's been making a living lately faking emotion and playing make believe. This is better than working in the Senate on issues relating to national defense, taxes, etc?
What's this "your level" crap? As I recall you were the one who cast aspersions against me (which you later weaseled out of). I've called you no names; I've not disparaged your candidate.
You've acknowledged that you've compromised your principles and admitted to saying things that you now regret. Perhaps you should log off and go take a break.
I expect that what's meant is not "total support", but rather "support above the nearest competitor". And that could easily be absorbed completely by the MOE.
"If McCain would drop out.."
We can only hope. Watched a bit of him on C-Span. Some townhall sort of thing. He just doesn't have it any more. The fire in the belly. Seemed to me he was just going thru the motions. IMHO, he did want the nomination last time around.
Can you link to the article about his semi-announcement? I check here every day, and I thought I read every Thompson article, and I am shocked I could have missed it.
" God knows why but there seems to be a solid 20% who will run off the cliff with him"
Maybe 20% of America is crazy too.
"since I decided to support that guy in Weekend at Bernie's."
Wasn't that Algor? ;)
Rudy had a great interview on Kudlow & Company and proved himself to be both knowledgeable and absolutely correct on the economic issues of our time. He did so well that Kudlow, a free-market hero, was singing his praises for the rest of the show. I will be looking to the interview on youtube but in till then here are some key quotes.
"(The government) needs to make it clear that we're going to extend the tax cuts, that it's not just a temporary thing, so people can look forward to long-term planning. The government needs to reign in spending. We haven't done that in a while in a concerted way and it seems to me that is how the federal budget can have the best impact on the private economy."
"Globalization and free market economics is the way to go for the United States. If we challenge ourselves, it gives us the hope for growth, and we should always be pointing towards growth."
"I started with a $2.3 billion deficit, and by lowering taxes we cleared that deficit and started building a pretty big surplus."
"If some mistakes were made in being too aggressive, that sometimes creates overinvestment and bad decisions. That's kind of a natural thing in a market, so I would rather have it correct itself rather than have Congress correct it. There (are) always going to be cycles
that's the nature of a free economy."

There was no announcement, semi or otherwise. That's just a lame attempt to reframe the debate...
Bingo.
Haven't you been reading what Thompson boosters are writing? You must pay attention. They think the public will overlook the fact that he is, uh, a bit "over the hill" shall we say, and they will overlook his lackluster senate record which is about as significant as John Kerry's in terms of meaningful achievements. None of that will mater precisely because his face is on TV and the people will be inspired by him because Ronald Reagan was on TV too don't ya know and so Thompson is another Reagan. You must pay closer attention.
They have a clear cut strategy in place as to how to convince the Starbucks crowd to support Fred Thompson, and the fact that he is running at the AMAZING UNBELIEVABLE FIGURE OF 13 PERCENT!!! is proof of that to be sure.
How about Senator Rudy, replacing Senator Clinton? Or Schumer, either one, I don't care.
That works. Another NE lib GOP senator "maverick" is better than a certified communist.
"Thompson/Rice ticket would blow everyone away and do a damn good job running this country."
Rice has made one too many embaressing statements as Sec State... such as calling the creation of a new state for Muslim terrorists to be fun by Fatah our "greatest legacy as a nation".
Better someone like Hunter as VP. Of course, I'm biased by name... ;)
Um...he's two whole years older than your buddy Rudy. Big f-in deal.
Hunter/Thompson
The "Gonzo" ticket : )
"fun by Fatah "
=
"run by Fatah"
Take me off your ping list immediately unless you'd like me to ping you to all the Rudy threads that reflect his frontrunner status.
Good old fred working for the dems again....drag out the old likable fred to harm republicans in an election.....
