WHY PEOPLE THINK CONSERVATIVES ARE IDIOTS (Interesting Read from Neal Boortz)
Neal Boortz Blog ^ | 3/26/07 | Nel Boortz

Posted on 03/26/2007 1:25:49 PM PDT by NYC Republican

Sorry .. it's true. Liberals love to paint conservatives as being ignorant, stupid, obtuse, mindless, irrational and, on occasion, retarded. For the most part leftists use this "stupid" tactic in order to avoid actually having to intellectually engage with someone who thinks differently than they. After all ... you really don't have to consider the opinions offered by someone who disagrees with you if you can successfully and falsely brand them as ignorant.

Sadly ... many conservatives seem to have dedicated their lives to lending credence to the left's "conservatives are idiots" claim. You will remember several weeks ago I told you about one Georgia Republican (former Democrat) legislator whose campaign chairman sent out some memos and letters promoting legislation to outlaw the teaching of evolution in government schools. The letter referred the reader to the website of "The Fair Education Foundation, Inc." In this website --- and I'm not kidding you here --- you will learn that the Earth stands still in space ... not even rotating ... while the Sun and everything in the universe rotates around the earth every 24 hours. Think I'm kidding? Check it our for yourself.

Well .. there's more. Sunday's Atlanta Journal-Constitution tells us about another website, this one run by Andrew Schlafly, the son of Phyllis Schlafly. Conservapedia pushes the creationism theme with revelations that dinosaurs and humans roamed the Earth at the same time.[video] You'll also learn that atheism has led to a large increase in bestiality. But once again you'll learn that not only is the Earth standing still, but it's actually flat ... and sitting still in space while everything revolves around it.

Tell me .. how do you counter the "conservatives are ignorant" argument, and how do you manage to recruit more people to the cause of lower taxes, less government and more individual responsibility when you have people running around loose calling themselves conservatives, getting elected to office as conservatives, and running websites as conservatives all the while telling us that the earth does not spin on its axis and does not revolve around the Sun .. and that everything in the known universe revolves around the Earth?

If true conservatives really want to expand their philosophy and mount a sustained movement that just might save individualism, freedom and economic liberty --- they had better jettison these zealot nut-cases .... and FAST.

This all sure makes me glad to be a Libertarian.

Not even close... Most people have bought into the "global warming" theory... No one is buying this, at least not many

Is he trying to tell me that the Flintstones didn't have a pet dinosaur?

Conservatives are idiots!

We control the energy companies, Wall Street, all major corporations, the military, and we have the Bush/Rove weather machine and yet for some idiotic reason we permit liberals to co-exist.

I just don't understand it.

I don't like Boortz either, and am far from a libertarian, but he has some good points here.

You should read his latest book. He hit some home runs with me! He came across as more Constitutionalist than Libertarian.

same people who are hell bent against Rudy winning... they'd rather have a president focused against gay sex than fighting the war on terror.

Their disbelief in science is generally fueled by their faith though. Faith is something that you can't reason against.

The irony, though, is that ninety nine percent of the time, their conflicting viewpoint is not really dictated by the Bible, but only by some preacher's interpretation of the Bible. Hence, the medieval church believed that a round earth was heresy, and that a sun centered solar system was contrary to the Bible. Not very many people today believe that the Bible contradicts these claims, though.

Bortz is a liberatrian so he wants open borders, free porn for everyone and lots of drugs.

Boortz has some positions that tick me off, but he does not support open borders.

Huge numbers of blacks believe the CIA created AIDS and New Orleans was intentionally flooded to wipe out blacks. A large percentage of the left, including tenured professors, believes that the World Trade Center was demolished by the Bush administration and that the last two presidential elections were stolen. Just today, Rosie O'Donnell, from her perch as a national TV host, asserted that the British sailors were taken hostage as part of a scheme by the US and British to justify war against Iran. Many people believe the moon landing was staged in a Hollywood studio.

Need I go on? I'm sure I can find some less than mainstream Libertarian views without much trouble. How about Neal shuts his pie hole, spells his name right and takes care of his own.

Hey Neal, why don't you grab a big bowl of Shut The Hell Up? Any "movement" or group is going to have nutcases and conservatives are no different. The reason people think conservatives are dumb is because of the media. They (includes Neal!) play it for all its worth. Imagine the wackos you can drag out that claim to be liberal? Does the general public think liberals are stupid even though the preponderance of liberal wackjobs is endless?

Is Neil asking conservatives to purge and or demonize any who don't stay on the plantation like the liberals do? And just because someone SAYS they are conservative, well, it just doesn't make it so.

Thanks for making conservatives look bad Neal. Why don't you go get heroin legalized you libertarian you. Snicker.

Maybe a potted one.

You mean the Earth isn't flat?

It's simply a matter of scale and reference frame.

I find it amusing that very few liberals can make one cogent argument for believing that the Earth is round that does not involve recourse to authority ("they" say it's round) or photographs taken from space.

Eratosthenes reasoned from observations available to anyone the approximate size and shape the Earth in 200 BC.

Liberals aren't necessarily "smarter", they're just more deferential to authority figures, especially schoolmarms.

"On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: "O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon." So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day."

Joshua 10:12-13

Hmmmmmmm.......

People think conservatives are idiots because of the loony liberals who pretend to be conservatives (much like the Rudybots here). They get the false impression that's how all conservatives are. Liberals in conservative clothing give conservatives a bad name and make us all look like idiots.

Next question.
