Giuliani campaigns in Newport Beach (and outlines his positions)
Daily PIlot ^ | March 24, 2007 | Amanda Pennington and Alicia Robinson

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani led off with his strongest card, his terrorism-fighting credentials, before touching on healthcare, immigration and energy policy in a speech to a welcoming crowd Saturday.

"Sept. 11, 2001, taught me — and I believe it taught a lot of people, including President Bush — that we have to remain on offense," Giuliani said. "That means that we have to use our military. We can't show weakness."

Giuliani seemed to hit all the right notes Saturday, getting applause when he criticized Democrats' stance on healthcare and advocated vouchers for schools.

On immigration, he told reporters he doesn't support amnesty for illegal immigrants, but he could support a guest worker program if there were adequate border security and tamper-proof ID cards. He said that even if illegal immigrants "can demonstrate that they are lawful, that they are paying taxes [and] that they'll pay penalties," they still shouldn't be put ahead of people who go through legal channels.

"And citizenship here, if it's earned, should be premised on being able to read and write English and understand American history, so we restore assimilation to the process of immigration," he said.

"Nothing will unite the Republicans more than a candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton," Curry said.

Indy, are you now going to demand airborne apologize to me for intentionally posting false information about me and if he doesnt are you then going to whine

I have yet to see any proof in fact that he made a false claim. It was proved in the other case. I think you have your whine machine on. It would be easier to answer the questions posed to you. Would clear it all up.

I posted my proof. Heck, just being here proves airborne is lying about why I was banned, but by all means, ignore it. I expect as much.

Hmm. You continue to say that our posting of Giuliani's record is "spam."

Fine then. Allow me to put the shoe on the other foot and call all of these polls you're posting "spam."

If you're going to call the reposting of factual information about Rudy's record spam, then can I say the same about all of these polls that are posted day in and day out?

Well of course you do. What else are you going to say.

Oh geez. This had me laughing.

We're in the campaign leading up to an election, and everyone's record will be scrutinized. Rudy's position on abortion has been consistent throughout the years, but his recent words indicate that he realizes that he won't win the nomination without the Pro-Life vote.

In other words, he's contradicting his old positions for the sake of appearing more acceptable to Pro-Life candidates.

I don't know about you, but I call that pandering.

I won't be joining anybody voting for Rudy.

For any reason.

Remember when all the liberals worthy of our contempt were working for the *other side*?

"Pro-Life vote"

Im Pro-Life. I vote. Im voting for Rudy.

If the POTUS has the power to end abortion, why didnt Reagan and both Bush's do it?

They can't refute the FACT that Rudy is a bleeding-heart liberal. What's funniest is that they seem to think that conservatives should stop bringing it up.

Roe v Wade can be overturned. You have to have a pro life SCOTUS to do it. They are life appointments. If a sitting POTUS cannot seat any new justices, he can do very little about it.

If Bush could have one more pro life justice, it could be done.

That is why it is important to have a pro life candidate.
A persons actions speak louder than words.

So is Hunter Duncan going to come out and promise that if elected he will end abortion? How about Fred Thompson, will he come out and promise to end abortion if elected?

Rudy is running his campaign the same way EVERY OTHER LIBERAL does. He is "flip-flopping" to go after the votes he wants.

FR Poster "Fierce Allegiance" is a racist. After viewing my page and not liking the color of people he found on it, he went on to make racial slurs about smoking crack and speaking ebonics. Its really unfortunate that there are some republicans that fit the stereotypical "republicans are racists" stereotype. Please do not judge all republicans by the words and actions of a few like "Fierce Allegiance".

Do you deny posting that on your profile page?

So there is no guarantee that the next POTUS will have a chance to even seat another justice, is there?

I dont think im ready to make a decision about who the next POTUS is, based on such a large "if".

I fight abortion from the bottom up. Not the top down. I believe abortion will end when we educate people, especially women, on the risks involved for them physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I do not believe that this education can be legislated. I believe its a battle for the hearts and minds.

I am for ending all abortion by any means possible. I do not believe the best way to advance the cause is by allowing the left to control the WH, the Sentate, and the House.

I think that "America" does indeed suffer from Bush fatigue, God bless him. I think that most people are just plain worn out on the "religious down home country boy" personna. I do no fault Bush for this, but it exists none the less. I think putting up that type of candidate will ensure a democratic win in 08.
