You are correct on all counts. However Jolson was a conservative Jew who entertained our troops overseas during WWI, WWII and the Korean War. To Korea at his own expense.

His last stint in Korea was blamed for his untimely death. He was in his 60s at the time and the stress of the trip was said to have been the cause of his death.

A true patriot.

FWIW Parks and Jolson didn't get along.

Larry Parks may not have gotten on well with Jolson, but in that movie he was Jolson.

I am familiar with Jolson's conservatism and with the fact that he campaigned for Harding in 1920.
