Have it your way. NewsMax is representative of mainstream Republicans, then. I don't view it that way, but apparently I'm on the fringe.

The problem with Newt is that if you don't agree with his positions, there's nothing for the voter to fall back on. He's not physically appealing. He's not enjoyable to listen to. He doesn't project anything visceral to lure people in.

He's a very smart and articulate man who probably espouses conservatism (rather than just being conservative) better than almost anyone on the scene today. But if conservatism is not your bag, there's nothing to attract you to Newt.

It's a shame that, in this television age and the era of women voters, candidates must be telegenic and have cute families in order to get elected but it's the truth.

I'd like to see somebody else leading the ticket although Newt would make for a great Veep.

The unscientific poll of nearly 90,000 people also shows that Gingrich would win handily in a GOP primary race against both Rudolph Giuliani and John McCain.

How does an unscientific, and therefore bogus, poll "show" anything, much less who would really win handily anything?

It's one thing to run an on-line poll and make conclusion about what it means within the online community. But to suggest it tells you ANYTHING about the real world is silly.

Definitely proves as much, if not more, as polls of "conservative" and "Republican" voters done by the drive-by media of people that have no clue as to where Giuliani stands on the issues.

It's conservative websites where prospective primary voters actually know how liberal RINO Rudy is.

I don't know too much about Fred, but what I've heard so far I like.

Oh, puhleez Tall Texan. The reason a lot of women don't like Newt is because of what he did to his family. It has nothing to do with his looks. Give me a break.

"Is that the same Duncan Hunter who bounced almost $150,000 worth of checks?"

Don't know. How about some documentation on that bomb.

I have a hard time believing he refused to support his children. That sounds like a mud to me? Do you have a link from a credible source?

And neither is going to get the nomination.

I don't know what you consider credible.

How about the Cato Institute?

Or Media Matters?

The Cato Institute is credible. Although they are Libertarians.

Media Matters is heavy left. That means 0 credibility...

The problem with Newt...

Alas, I'd like to say you are wrong...but you are probably right.

I'm enamored of Newt but I know my views are far from "mainstream".

We'll know he's running when he takes a gym subscription--preferably a gym with tanning booths.

Well, since they agree, I take it at face value, since I have
a Frontline link, plus others.

I am sure they have interviewed church members. I have read the statement of one who said the family was in danger of having the electricity cut off, and had little food.

He called his second wife at her mother's 84th birthday to tell her he was divorcing her. He seems to enjoy deserting women who become ill in any way. First wife it was cancer, the second wife got MS. He's scum.
