I agree with you that authors are too focused on manmade global warming, but I don't think that affects their conclusion that the sun isn't the explanation. Did Mars experience the same drop in temperatures between 1945 and 1975? Somehow I doubt it.

So do, simply because mars is futher away and would take longer for the solar radiation effecting earth to reach it.
