I hate affirmative action. I refuse to see black, Hispanic or female doctors because of it. I'm not putting my life into the hands of someone who may have only made it through medical school due to AA. It makes me angry thinking of the advancements we may have been denied by not giving the brights people the top positions they deserved.

Not so fast. I know a CC and RC nurse from Brazil who decided to finally get a green card and a work attachment to her visa. They all need to pass what is called an NCLEX exam to work. It's a very hard test. The science is the same in all these medical schools. She started at $80K.

She said there are diseases that she treated in tropical Brazil that are showing up around here. 15 hours by air north. She's wearing 2 face masks all over again right here.

If one goes back to the 1978 Supreme Court case involving Allan Bakke and the University of California at Davis Medical School, it's interesting to follow the career of Patrick Chavis, the black student who was admitted to medical school based on affirmative action.
In 1997, the Medical Board of California suspended his license to practice medicine based on his inability to perform some of the most basic duties required of a physician.
He was not only guilty of egregious medical incompetence but the Los Angeles district attorney made him the subject of a criminal investigation because of the death of a patient as a result of his criminal negligence. I won't describe all the gruesome details but it reads like something from Dr. Mengele's career.

I hate affirmative action as well but I will defend the doctors.....believe me, they couldn't get their foot in the door if they didn't have some brains upstairs.....

however even with brains, some people just can't do good doctoring, and any canidates I know of that fit the bill are all very lily white and male....( okay, I do know one female...lol ...)
