that's good news but the current crop is not very good. I like Newt but he may talk too much. FT definitely has a presence. Most election cycles we hear talk of someone getting in the race late out of the blue: Cuomo in 1984, HHH in 1976, Ted Kennedy in 1976, Jerry Ford for VP in 1980, Algore in 2008, Gary Hart ?1992 and i know i have missed some. These candidacies never seem to materialize so I guess i am little skeptical that Fred will do it. But I agree he has the Reagan pedigree. My biggest concern: Supreme Court. This country has to HAVE judges not autocrats on the bench who will NOT redefine words like marriage.
No thanks
Yeah, I know. I also have some issues with that pairing but it would give the Democrats some real fits. Just like Zell Miller did at the Republican convention.
:) Run, Fred, RUN!
IMHO everyone that is in so far is in way to early L0L
It would be fun to watch their heads implode.
Im afraid that ticket would bring some gnashing of teeth on our side as well though ;0)
Fred bump
Where would one write to promote or encourage Thompson to run?
With all due respect, please throw your hat in the ring already.
Respectfully,
LibKill
I could jump on that bandwagon...I LOVE Hunter TOO!!!
I heard a soundbite (actually it was more like a whole sandwich-LOL) of his on Bill Bennett's show yesterday morning. I am guessing from his stint as Paul Harvey's guest host. I loved it. He was so smooth and full of common sense. He just dripped "presidential". A no-nonsense plain talker. Exactly what this country needs and would gravitate toward. Gravitas out the ying-yang. ;^)
I am very hopeful at this point. He seems to be generating a LOT of buzz. That can only be a good thing.
Yes. Run, Fred, RUN!!
Ahh, a man after my own heart (or woman?).
"Close friends of Fred Thompson say his wife Jeri is urging him to take the plunge later this year and run for the Republican presidential nomination."
Just spotted this Novak nugget on unionleader.com
Like I was saying, "If Mama's not happy..." is the rule. According to Robert Novak, Mama Jeri is happy with a Fred Thompson campaign.
If it's true, then it'll be full speed o' fred!

Frankly, I would be happy with either ticket. Steele, I think, represents the future of the GOP. But J.C. has far more experience, both in and out of government. His success as a businessman and entrepreneur and time in the house give him a leg up on Steele.
The only problem with J.C. is that he might not want to get back into government service. But if anyone could convince him to do it, that would be his good friend Fred Thompson.
I would also have no problems with a Thompson - Hunter ticket, but the GOP has a chance to make history here and completely turn its image around in the eyes of black people.
It would also make the lying libs have to stop repeating their "racist" mantra when making unfounded accusations against Republicans.
Guiliani & Co. have got to be defecating in their pants.
Oh WOW. Now if that is true- he'll do it.
Run, Fred, RUN!!!!!!!!!!!
