As the first, and for a great while the only, journalist to talk on the record with Jim Zumbo following his disastrous blog entry about semiautomatic rifles in mid-February, I was disappointed, but hardly surprised that Ray Schoenke would use the opportunity to attack the National Rifle Association and blame it for Zumbo's troubles ["Real hunters and shooters need to stand up to the NRA," Times guest commentary, March 20].
The NRA did not, as Schoenke asserted, start the Internet frenzy against Zumbo. The NRA had very little to do with Zumbo's troubles, and Schoenke knows it.

Hmmm... ! What were we both saying just the other day?
I thought you might get a kick out of this, shooter.
Not necessarily. Never ascribe to malice that which can adequately be described by incompetence.
It's always fun when they blame the NRA all the time. You can't buy that kind of advertising.
Great expose on fake 'hunting groups' that are actually proxies for organized gungrabbers.
Of course, Schoenke is significant because he played golf with Bill Clinton and went to one of the 'famous White House coffees.' Note that the Washington Post does not refer to 'infamous White House coffees.'
Speaking as a hunter, shooter, carry permit holder, and gun salesman, I have heard enough from stuck up jerks like Schoenke. These people believe that they're duck hunters and therefore better and smarter than anyone else who thinks they can own a gun. They're cannibals and useful idiots. The second amendment is not for people like Ray Schoenke. The second amendment is because of people like Ray Schoenke.
