It all sounds as current as tomorrows headlines: a U.S. attorney is fired, he goes public to defend his reputation, the President knows more about the forced exit of the lawman than previously claimed, and the Justice Department as well as the White House are soon under fire from the media and Capitol Hill.
The year was 1978 and the U.S. attorney forced out of his job was David Marston. Appointed by President Ford as the top federal lawman In Philadelphia, Marston had racked up convictions of political leaders of both parties in Pennsylvania. After a year under Jimmy Carter, however, Marston was abruptly removed. Stunned is how the young, 35-year-old prosecutor described his removal, as it came right after his successful prosecution of a powerful state senator on racketeering charges.

It's never a big story unless it bashes a Republican.
You must understand, when liberals do it, it is OK. They are doing it for the right reasons to stick it to the right.
Do we expect a Democrat president to remove the federal prosecutor in Philly so State Senator Vince Fumo can walk free? I would probably bet yes. Another reason not to elected a "RAT"
Corruption and the Democrats is a story as old as the party itself.
As is their propensity to accuse their opponents of what they themselves are doing or will do, thus exposing themselves completely. If we only had an independent media they would be laughed out of office.
There's a huge difference in the stories. In the case of some of the current attorneys, it was an unwillingness to conduct a thorough investigation and prosecution of (Dem) politicians that is the prima facie evidence of the desire for their removal.
The Dems, of course, think that the politicians are innocent and that Bush wants to investigate them, but I think it's quite the opposite, especially given Bush's past and the relative lack of power of the politicians involved (what would the WH fear from these local politicians?).

Actually, the worse case is NOT the media covering for the Democrats it's when the Republicans join the Democrats in covering up the crime. Since almost all Americans will/Can NOT believe that their government could stoop to such low behavior, Everyone, and I MEAN EVERYONE gives the lying fools a pass.
FREEREPUBLIC? Same thing you see on the liberal boards, people sticking their heads into the sand and giving the government a pass to lie, steal, cheat, whatever needs to be done to protect the agenda.
History will surely judge us as a society to be the biggest fools in history, right next to the German people who let their country be hijacked by a madman.
If you only knew.
I am sure I don’t know as much as you, as to specifics, but I do know enough to agree with you. Like many I have learned to ignore the under the radar graft and corruption that turns working class idealists into corrupt millionaires and concentrate on what political philosophy they follow.
