you know, despite the hoopla and the apparently supporting quotes regarding the upward revision of "deserters", I think it might be a word game to hit the Army as an organization.
It occurs to me that someone might not be reported as a "deserter" for the purpose of this statistic until he/she has either pleaded or been found guilty.....as opposed to exceeding 30 days AWOL or even being charged with desertion.
There is a difference between the morning report, being charged, and having been convicted.
