Navy disputes war story told by former sailor
Navy Times | 3/19/07 | Hodierne

Posted on 03/22/2007 10:53:53 AM PDT by pabianice

Former sailor in NY Times cover story claims she was repeatedly raped and suffered combat injuries in Iraq. Problem: she never served in Iraq, never reported a rape or injury, and at the time she left the Navy after six years she was still a BUSN (E-3).

Navy Times copyright shrieks preclude posting. However, Link is Here.

“Her experience in Iraq, she said, included one notable combat incident, in which her Humvee was hit by an I.E.D., killing the soldier who was driving and leaving her with a brain injury."

She certainly seems to have some kind of brain injury.

Years ago when in the Marines there were enlisted troops who were career privates. They retired as privates even though some of them had attained the rank of E-6 or E-7, some attaining the ranks several times during 20 years.

My last roommate was an E-5 who had been an E7 twice.

"I seen a few Chief Petty Officers with an arm full of Red service stipes - making me wonder why not Gold? You get gold service stripes after 12-years of honorable service."

It's been awhile, but I think to be gold, you have to have a clean record. No busts. Maybe it's 12 years without a bust? Anyway, I agree, I've seen lots of guys with an arm full of red stripes.
Of course, getting busted in the Navy isn't exactly a rare event. Try being on a ship for a few weeks at sea, then pulling into someplace you don't know, with a pocket full of forced savings. Yeeeee haaaaaaaw!

Raped by Special Forces Ranger Jessie MacBeth, no doubt...

Now there’s a trip down Memory Lane. (Less than a year ago, seems longer).

She thinks she was in Iraq?

Or was it Cambodia? I've got this hat, you see.

Does the Navy have any weight or fitness standards that they actually enforce? I feel sorry for the couch.

It appears that when she thought she was in Iraq...she was actually in the pantry.

I know I have been out of the Navy for awhile, does anyone know when they started giving out service ribbons for eating the most cans of peaches at one meal?

unhappy, unattractive, unintelligent, apparently unconscious (not sure if she was in Iraq), unwilling to work hard enough to get even standard promotions...

Fat, lazy and stupid really is no way to go through life.

Wow, Thanks for the info. I knew a guy who was busted from E6 to E4. One guy who worked for me went from E4 to slick sleeve (E1) but he deserted and came back almost two years later to face the music.

That would stink to put in your 20 and retire as E1!
