Absolutely.
But this particular aspect of the U.S. attorneys is likely not the right fight.
Executive branch people are subject to congressional subpeona for "any matter under inquiry" in ether house.
Congressional subpeona has been tested over and over since 1821 and congress has won every time.
Many so called scandals didn't start as true scandal - they grew when somebody decided to break the law to hide something.
I am concerned for the country on two points
1. That if the President orders his staff to not answer a congressional subpoena he may be committing a crime.
2. That this is pushing crucial issues to the back burner - like Iran, north Korea, the economy, immigration and Chavez.
