Why not? Because the President supports him and because firing Gonzales would only make the dems and the media all to happy. Frankly, since President Bush doesn't seem the type to fight tooth and nail for anything, I am surprised that he did not or has yet to fire Gonzales.

It's amazing to me how this whole thing which should have been a non-issue from the get-go has deteriorated to such a point. Certainly, no one wins in this. The administration looks like a deer caught in the headlights once again, while the democrats look petty in attempting to manufacture any scandal they can once again.
Personally, I'm sick of the lot of 'em.
