I hope they get to the bottom of it. I don't use the brands I saw on the list, but a few minutes ago I went out to the patio, and there it was - kitty puke. I suspect that the culprit is going to be found in the "gravy" types of cat foods. I just threw away all the cans of food that were "in gravy."

How did you know it was kitty puke? Could it be that you have SEEN kitty puke before this pet food scare? Could it be that many things cause cats to puke?

Um, I've had cats (and dogs)all my life, and I never had a cat that didn't puke occasionally. Hair balls, or the tendency to eat leaves or other vegetation that sticks in their throats.

I've never used processed wet pet food for either dogs or cats and I've never had a vet that recommended the stuff (except maybe the Rx kind that's made for sick animals), but I did have a dog that died of kidney failure; he was a rescue, and Lord only knows what conditions he came from; likely eating out of garbage cans before he was taken to the pound.

The bottom line is that both cats and dogs die of kidney failure every day, and this situation appears to be reaching the hysteria level of fiction over fact.

We had a similar incident. We use Pedigree canned dog food and it wasn't on the recall list. Mostly we buy the "ground" canned food, but yesterday I fed my dogs a can of the "chunky with gravy" canned Pedigree food, and one of the dogs was up all night vomiting.

Makes you wonder, I'm trying to get ahold of the Pedigree people, but their line is swamped, as is the other recall hotline.

From what I've heard, it IS in the gravy types of foods. Haven't they said that from the beginning?

Heck...I use ONLY the gravy in the Sophisticat Supreme pouch to squirt over the Fancy Feast Chicken and Liver Feast...and throw the soft pellet food in the pouch down the disposal.

NOW they tell me it's the gravy itself?

Cats and dogs puke all the time, especially if they've been eating grass. I've noticed cats tend to be more sensitive to changes in food and I've also noticed that my cat tends to puke up the beef food more often. It seems to be the heavily dyed brands in heavy gravy more often than not.
