Let them go to court and unless there is some motion of illegality the USSC will not hear it.

(a) The President shall appoint, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, a United States attorney for each judicial district

Well - they have the power to impeach. They have the power to investigate, and they have the power to subpoena. They have co-equal powers to the president.

I'm afraid the Presidency doesn't have the power to avoid this confrontation.
