The Western Ramadi District Police conducted a massive police operation targeting insurgents today in Ramadi.
Coordinating between several stations within his district, Brig. Gen. Khalil Ibrahim Hamadi, chief of the Ramadi District Police, personally led more than 500 policemen as they conducted house-to-house searches in the capital city of Al Anbar Province.
"The Sons of Ramadi work tirelessly to eradicate criminals and bring them to justice," said Khalil. "Today we achieved a noble goal in providing security and stability to our families and the people of Ramadi."
During the 10-hour operation, named Operation Lions of Ramadi, police detained more than 45 suspected insurgents, confiscated propaganda material and discovered several caches containing assault rifles, machine guns, and mortar and artillery shells used to produce improvised explosive devices.
Insurgents utilizing an IED during the operation killed one civilian and injured five. The wounded were transported by local citizens to a nearby Joint Security Station, then evacuated to a Coalition medical facility for further treatment.

oh yeah, I saw this on the network news tonight...NOT
The tipping point has been reached, all al-Qaeda can do is try to kill Shiek Sattar and pull off something big that will get Shia to kill Sunni civilians again like killing Sistani.
That would be big news to a lot of people if true.
But, you wouldn't be able to overcome an abundant historical record that establishes without doubt that the "New Deal" was the campaign and governing slogan of FDR, not Ike.
But I do not believe in a time of war the idea of splintering the one political party that on the whole is defending America (or who's current leader, GWB, is) ....is a good idea.
There are plenty of times in our history where sending a message to ones political party makes on the sense in the world. However, during times of war, is not one of them.
I believe it was that reckless behavior that allowed the disgusting ilk of the anti-American, anti-American soldier, anti-success on the WOT Democrats into office in 06.
Did the GOP make it easier for the DEMs to win.....without a doubt. I just wish our base would have seen the bigger picture and realized 06 was not the time to stay home....and embolden our enemies during this war.
As for the border. More is happening on our borders then can openly be talked about. In terms of profiling and such (think outed NSA program and such).
Best regards,
OMG that is such a GREAT idea.
oops. Thanks for correcting me.
Ahhh but what is history when libs are writing the schoolbooks?? LOL
"But I do not believe in a time of war the idea of splintering the one political party that on the whole is defending America"
From all appearances our political party of record is splintered and cannot lead even when given a clear majority. Some very good Republicans were defeated in the last election because they didn't have a backbone to stand up and fight the lies and distortions. The RNC practically abandoned some candidates for Re election and showed poor support for others.
If the GOP was really about defending America, they would have been well served by defending Bush from the constant onslaught of liberal lies and obstruction. There is not one good person serving under Bush and when the party can't defend it's own from liberals, it is very hard to find comfort in their ability to defend America and make the right decisions in the WOT.
Right now the GOP is pretty much every man for himself because reelection is always over the horizon and there has to be a lot of fence riding and waffling to stay electable.
I want a party of politicians with a backbone. People who speak out on a united front and are not afraid to call others liars. I say No Bull and I mean it.
To many there will never be a good time to promote a new party. That is as good as accepting the status quo. Smart money is on the fact that many current politicians will never step out on a limb as a matter of self preservation.
To my knowledge, there is nothing anywhere that says we have to give a politician a lifetime job once they get to that level. Rewarding non accomplai with reelection is foolish and reckless.
A party that comes out swinging could energize the people who are so tired of government that they have dropped out of the voting booth. When nobody fights for me and my rights, why participate?
A three party system in congress could change the dynamics of how business is conducted. Since little seems to be getting accomplished now except hearings on the next Bush Administration scandal there is plenty of room for a party willing to roll up their sleeves and extract some work out of the current two party fiasco.
forgive me for my rant. But I for one am tired of being constantly let down by our current crop of elected people.
And it will never change unless the people start making a huge uproar about how finger pointing means no work is being done for the public benefit.
