An anti-war rally in the Loop and downtown Chicago area tonight included a march along a stretch of the Magnificent Mile.
The demonstration, which coincides with the 4th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, began around 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of Ogden School at Walton and Oak Streets. Chicago police are estimating that 4,000 marchers showed up for the march and rally, according to Chicago Police Officer Tom Polick. He said as of 9:20 p.m., he had not received any reports of arrests.
At 8:10 p.m., marchers filled the southbound lanes of Michigan Avenue, with many carrying an assortment of signs and flags from countries including Iraq and Puerto Rico.
Marchers chanted slogans including "Hey, hey, ho, ho, George Bush has got to go."
Some signs called for President George W. Bush's impeachment, and others read: "If You Love War Enlist."
Chicago police had a heavy presence along the march route, with officers walking alongside the marchers and Illinois State police in riot gear.
The marchers were peaceful with some beating drums and others, including some dressed as cheerleaders, dancing around.
The marchers headed down Michigan Avenue south to Wacker Drive, planning to go west to Clark Street, and south into Daley Plaza. As of about 8:30 p.m., all the marchers had crossed south of the Chicago River on Michigan Avenue and the southbound lanes of Michigan were reopened shortly after.
The demonstrators have a permit to rally at Daley Plaza until 9:30 p.m., when officers will begin dispersing the crowd, according to police.
As of about 5:30 p.m., about 100 students from Columbia College, the University of Illinois at Chicago and DePaul University were marching north on the sidewalk of Michigan Avenue near Millennium Park, on the way to the larger rally.

As another poster said, this is not the country I grew up in
It is the same country you grew up in, just a country overcome by liberal pusificaion.
Worth repeating.
