I've never really understood the whole "burning in effigy thing". I mean, is it really all that much worse than saying bad things about somebody? I dunno, perhaps I am wrong, I've just never been drawn to any sort of emotion other than a shrug (compared to bad mouthing) when someone is burned in effigy.
When I looked at that picture, I saw my son hanging there in that uniform.

You could think of a burning in effigy as a mock lynching. It displays a lynch mob mentality.
