Unfortunately the 'father of big government' has been with us from the beginning. From the monarchist Hamilton to his 'student' Clay to Clay's lackey follower until even today. Republicans would expand, and have expanded, the national government to proportions unimagined by even the most ardent Federalist.
Ya, some Monarchist who took up a musket and bayonet and fought monarchy not with words like the aristocrat of Monticello, but with hot lead and cold steel -- all against very long odds.
Was the 'old' man who relied on Hamilton during war, took his wise advise on financial matters during peace, and looked on him as a son, a monarchist too?
It would only be fair to add him to your list of monarchists as well, since Hamilton never had bit of power or authority that was not through that old man.
Our Revolution would not have lasted a generation if not for Hamilton. Thank God for him.
Slavery is the biggest Big Government program of all.
