If you support Rudy, fine.

But could we please stick to the election at hand?

These are the Republican primaries, and we're talking about who we want to lead us.

We can talk about getting behind the selected candidate when the time comes, but this constant" only Rudy can beat Hillary" is kind of insulting to our intelligence.

Anybody can beat Hillary if the Party is united against her!

How can we "talk about getting behind the selected candidate when the time comes," when it's the anti-Rudy folks who are already declaring they won't support the Republican nominee if he gets the nomination?

These types of premature declarations are what are conflating the discussion of the primaries and the general election.

If people are declaring they won't support so-and-so in the general election, that impacts who people want to support in the primaries. And not in the way one might suppose.
