I never thought a pet food recall could be related to illegal immigration, but I underestimated the creativity of FReepdom.

About a week ago, both my cats were lethargic and weren't eating anything for about 3 days after I fed them some Sav a Lot cat food. I was starting to get concerned that they weren't eating, so I fed them some tuna, their favorite. They didn't even eat the tuna! I checked the recall list last night and the UPC and date on the can matches what I fed my cat! :(

They're fine now, but they're getting Friskies from now on!

Haven't you seen the 1/2 Hour News Hour? If anything can be related to Global Warming, then anything can be related to Illegal Immigration!

It seems that this recall only applies to wet food: cans and "pouches"...

Or not...

I just realized that Scooby, my Ozzy-Lab mix has been barfing a little outside the last few days, something he's never done before that I can remember.
He gets dry food, NUTRO.

Now I have to wonder. He's an indoor dog, and I'm usually outside with him whenever he leaves the house. We play and I usually watch him do his business to make sure he doesn't have digestive problems.

On the other hand, although he's not an indiscriminate swallower, he has been know to eat leaves...

Of the tens of millions of animals that have eaten this food, ten die. Hardly a reason for mass hysteria.

I just don't know what to tell you about this ;/ What I can tell you is that if it were me, I would just pitch it out and spare myself the worry. ya know?

The only Science Diet food that I have for my 2 cats isn't on the list. That being said, they refuse to eat it so it will probably get tossed out sooner or later. Mine have been eating Friskies products as their main wet food for a long time but here in the past few weeks they are refusing to eat the types that they would always eat before. I'm not sure what's up with them and if they are just being picky but right now I have many different types of wet food that I'm trying them on to see if they'll find a new favorite.

I only had one can, but it has already been eaten. I pulled the empty can out of the recycling bin to check it. I bought this by accident and only 1 can mixed in with the "entree" kind. They don't like it very much, but lick the gravy. The numbers don't match, but i am keeping the can to call the 800 number when they FINALLY get a human being to answer instead of a recording.

Mass hysteria? Haven't you been reading the posts from people who are saying their healthy pets have been sick or died after eating this food?

Give it awhile..and I promise you, this is much bigger than is being reported. It always is..

Petsmart has a list of recalled foods that are in addition to the Menu Foods list:

I notice that the very last item does not mention the word "can", although I suspect that it was intended.

The problem was traced back to where all these products get there filler (kinda like the spinach, dif names same location of source)
the supplier to all the labels/names.

Read the label of what you feed your animals.

I may spend $120 a month to feed my 3 labs Fish/Sweet Potato (no corn, soy, dairy, wheat ect) but I have healthy trim boyz and no vet bills. Except shots.

We have to go to a feed store to get it and they can't keep it in stock, I have to call ahead to make sure they put my bags aside.

I am sorry for the loss of your mommy cat. It can be hard to know when to take a cat in. We had a diabetic cat who needed insulin shots for three years. Then he was no longer diabetic, then he stopped eating. He turned to have a stomach cancer and we had to put him down. It all happened so fast.

I also remember our family cat died soon after she had stopped eating. My mom was going to take her to the vet, but she died before she took her. (I was no longer living at home, only heard about it after she had died.)

"Having read the literature ("Give Your Dog a Bone", Dr. Ian Billinghurst), I'm convinced its the greatest thing sinced sliced bread... and so-called "Dog Food" is little more than a way for large food processors to sell their waste and byproducts from making human foods."

Congratulations on caring enough to research good nutrition.

I have two mini dachshunds and they eat the RAW frozen chicken/turkey medallions. I find this diet for them to be convenient and they are in excellent health!! Just thaw & feed - They love it!!

Information about what I feed. They also get a raw chicken thigh a couple of times a week to keep their teeth in good shape.

One thing to remember is NEVER feed cooked bones to a dog as the bones can splinter and puncture the intestines.

For anyone with a strong stomach - read about what is in most commercial dog food:

Please read this.

More disgusting information about pet food.

I guess the new buzz word is "carbon footprint". I was just getting adjusted to "gravitas" and "global warming".

I'd like to plant a few footprints on the backside of the globalists who are responsible for us getting food from around the world that does not meet our safety standards. We've already had people die from bad produce and bad beef. Now our pets are getting sick and dying from food out of Canada. 'Ain't globalism swell? < / sarcasm >

I was really worried about my kitties because they eat meat with gravy! Thankfully, Friskies is not on the list. They're my babies. ;o)

Thanks for posting this list. My dog gets Costco's lamb and rice kibble and the kitty gets Nutro dry cat food. Glad these pet foods are not on the list because my animals are my babies now that the kids are grown. :) Condolences to anyone with a sick pet and best wishes for a speedy recovery. They are so special.
