Very Conservative up here.
But of course we do have a few libs.
There was that town up here of the native Indians who refused to take the oil form Hugo Chavez. If you remember reading about that awhile ago.

It's an iteresting proposition, whether one could actualyl establish a residence in 2 years would be the challenge.

We actually have an eye to the west in some of the more remote areas of WV. While my wife and I do a great deal of our work over the internet. We syill have to be on the client's carpet. I reckon this could present a problem for us.

I'll try and pass along to some of my friends who enjoy hunting. I bet this is the place for them (maybe not their wives though)!

Be sure to warn your friends that the deadline is right around the corner  :-)

Even if they can't get in to this current 26-lot giveaway, they are saying that there may be more lots given away at another time if this effort is judged as being successful.

FReeper Time Shares,...anybody?

That's actually quite an intriguing thought.  Being able to share a property with people who share your values would take a lot of worry away from the usual timeshare concerns.

"Very Conservative up here."

I live in a relatively conservative area of Maryland - the first red county west of Baltimore as you head into Jesusland.

We spend a significant amount of money sending my son to private school and time homeschooling my daughter, who is in kindergarten, that we might avoid some of the liberal indoctrination; ecokookism, homosexual agenda and reliance on the nanny state.

I have a few libertarian leanings, but for the most part I'm sick of Government trying to wrap themselves around my kids.

If public schools are good that is worth about 10 k to me and Mrs. Incredulous Joe.

Crime is definitely not a worry in Anderson. In 2 years as a prosecutor, I have only had one case from there and that was a DUI by a tourist.

Wow!  That does indeed sound like heaven.  Not having to worry about your car being stolen, your spouse being mugged or having to step over collapsed crackheads on your way to work is a way of living that many people can only dream about.

It's nice to know that such places still exist, even if you have to put up with subzero weather and strange daylight / nighttime patterns.

Yeah, It's not a bad idea.

Since I had my kids I've passively sought out "enclaves" that share our family's values, while trying to diminish or control exposure to cultures that are against our values and beliefs.

If the folks in SF can build their own Meccas why can't conservatives. Advertise the concept.

Quick housing solutions:

I'm not so sure that i would try a yurt in this climate?

Intriguing ideas.  I'm wondering if underground houses would be worth considering....would they provide insulation from the cold, just as they provide protection from the extreme heat of Coober Pedy?

Wow!  I hadn't heard about these Kansas opportunities.

I regret that I've never been to Kansas and know next to nothing about it.

What little I've heard suggests to me that the scenery and landscape will be dramatically different from what is found around Anderson, Alaska  :-)

Great minds think alike!

Actually, that's kind of what I had in mind - a below ground option with one of these little house (wouldn't have to be a tumbleweed) just above it .

The house could be framed by skylights - which of course would be knee-high.

De-population is a serious (and largely ignored) problem for a lot of communities. As a big city boy, it fascinates me. I have no idea what the solution is...

I'm in Seattle only because my responsibilities keep me here, although that won't be the case forever.  I love the weather (it's an acquired taste; I was born here) and the scenery, but the social culture here is awful.  VERY hard-left, and so I'm pretty miserable as far as that goes.  Being able to live around normal, sane, rational people who don't look to Karl Marx for answers to life's questions would be like a paradise for me  "sigh"

A very interesting plan!  My understanding is that even in summertime (the only possible building / construction season) the permafrost is just a few feet down and apparently it's like solid rock or worse to dig through.  But if they have tall buildings and homes with basements in Fairbanks, it must be possible.

As usual, I know just enough to get myself into trouble  :-)

I need to be calling it a night now.  Thanks very much for participating and happy trails to you and yours   :-)

I was just thinking that it's nice to know that there are conservative minds in Washington state. Of course, we know that to be true through this venue, despite the stereotypes.

I used to work for liberals - my office featured French and Peruvian nationals (essentially communists). I hated it. In fairness, I've also worked for some pretty rotten folks who were registered Republicans, too. They had bankrupt moral values, but I guess I didn't personally consider such folks to be "conservative", per se.

Now I work for myself,...yeah!

Gotta knock off. I always pay for it the next day when I get caught up with west coast FReeps, but it's always fun to meet and chat on interesting topics! Unfortunately, I gotta get back to work! I'll check back tomorrow if you have any other ideas for the Patriot Land Development Company ;0)
