There is no way that I believe you feel the government has effectively makes it impossible to purchase a gun. If you can post on the internet, you can find a dealer near you. No, not as many individuals, but plenty of dealers.
Hysteria doesn't help the pro-gun case.
Why does the ATF exist? Alcohol and tobacco are legal. And the 2nd Amendment gives us the right to own firearms. So what on earth do we need an ATF for?
20 years? That is just onerous.
They are still errors, and jackbooted thugs are always looking over your shoulder. The Federal government wants there to be NO such stores in existence, and will do everything it can to eliminate as many as it can.
I meant to say "tracked in perpetuity as a defacto gun registration".
No, not at all. I'm just a legal firearm owner who makes a point to obey all federal firearm laws to stay out of jail, and to also keep my elected state and federal officials regularly informed about how I feel about proposed gun control legislation.
Well, that would be might nice of you, now wouldn't it?
GOA=All I can.
Allow me to suggest that you calm down and stop badmouthing your neighbors...
That's pretty rich, coming from a lawyer.
Your piratical, parasitic brethren in the trial bar have deprived more honest businessmen and doctors of their livelihoods for "rare failures to achieve perfection" than the BATF could dream of in a thousand years.

Hey, you love 'em, you can have 'em! ;>)
How does your rant on some trial lawyers relate to the topic at hand?
Maybe its all those Federal Laws that are the problem.
Since we have been at the heart of so much discussion and some of my fellow brothers judging without knowing the facts. This article was written by a reporter who has no knowledge of firearms or this business. I was misquoted they have offered to rectify it but that does nothing for the fact that it is posted on a ton of web sites including anti-gun websites. I did not admit to these but told the paper that these were what they were charging me with as violations. We were told by the ATF agent in charge that we were one of the best small gun shops that he had inspected.
Here is another Idaho story that makes our story look like a cake walk:

Our Competitor Blue Lakes Sporting Goods was forced out of business in the same way; however ATF DIO Richard Van Loan never allowed them to appeal the ATFs decision. It was not until the urging of Senator Craig that they were allowed to have an appeal but by then they were in the middle of their Going out of business sale here is a letter from our competitor:

Congress was aware of the offenses by the BATF that is why they introduced H.R. 5092, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) Modernization and Reform Act of 2006:

This received bipartisan support, one of our attorneys Richard Gardiner had spoken before Congress telling about the abuses:

H.R. 5092 was passed by Congress but was placed on hold by Senator Dianne Feinstein of California who has long supported Gun Control:
http://feinstein.senate.gov/06releases/r-guns928.htm
Shooting Sports Retailer Magazine has reported that in 2006 the number of FFL revocation was up nearly 6 times what is was in 2001
The Number of Gun Dealers in U.S. Drops Almost 80 PercentFrom 245,628 to 54,902Since 1994 till 2005
http://www.vpc.org/press/0603dealers.htm
Our audit consisted of searching back through 5 years of transactions; we have average 2,000 transactions per year. The error rate on these petty clerical violations cannot even muster a full percentage.
I appreciate those of you who have stuck up for us and gone to bat for us and other dealers. I pray the same does not happen to you.
IF the above statement is true that 90% of dealers have been eliminated in X number of years, I am assuming there is some sort of exponential decay in the number of dealers going on for various reasons. IF that assumption is true, and I further assume that you will discount it as a possibility, but IF it were true, then it is only a matter of time, and therefore a virtual reality looming over us. Done deal in the future without some intervening change. But you are correct, it is not an experienced reality today.
So, the real question is, if the government makes rules to over time eliminate virtually all the dealers, over time making it practically impossible to legally acquire a weapon, IF that happened, would you consider it to have violated the second?
Nonsense. Government agents conducting no-knock raids have a much higher degree of responsibility, coupled with a much lower degree of accountability.
